Growing up in a small Southern town and being the Son of the local Funeral Director, I lived a unique and some might say, solitary life. Through the years I became a student of humanity and the world in which we live. As a young adult, I decided to experience life from different points of view and perspectives. I served in death care, law enforcement and eventually as a commercial photographer. Each of these opportunities afforded me the chance to see the world, and people in a very real, raw and untouched way. I have always held a deep conviction regarding integrity, honesty and kindness toward others as-well-as a deep, almost soulful connection to nature and wildlife.
Over the years my art has touched on many subjects from the human condition to landscapes and street photography. With each of these studies I found myself looking inward and asking, “what defines me, and can I bring that to life through my art”?
Almost as if on key, my life took a very involved turn when my family and I moved to the vast and beautiful West that is Wyoming. Amid this move, I began to discover something special, something almost magical about my new homeland.
The culture of the West is a culture of integrity, hard work, family and respect for the land, each other and the Almighty. Through learning The Code of The West, I found what I had been searching for. I found that last, major piece to the puzzle of what defines me. I found my people, my way of life and my best self.
Today, each piece of my art is part of a story. It is a moment, a place, a tradition or a legacy captured to be shared and held in esteem. It is my most sacred goal to bring posterity and appreciation to this place I now call home and the amazing people with whom I share it. My art isn’t meant to be simply a collection of images or decorative pieces to complement a room. It is meant to become a living testament to the legacy of the West and those people who define the integrity and character of it.
