As an artist, I am from time to time asked to create unique artistic portraits. I do accept commissions for portraiture from clients when time permits. When a client is considering such a commission there are a few key elements to keep in mind. Below are some points to note when thinking about commissioning such an artistic project.

• Artistic portraiture is NOT what is typically created for family portraits. The portraiture I create is artistic, unique and often themed in nature and does not conform to a "standard" perspective of portraiture. 
• Commissioned portraits are an art project and as such require extensive thought and planning to achieve the artistic perspective that I will have in mind for your portraits.  While I will involve the client in that process the ultimate creation of the portraits is based on my artistic influence and idea and that will ultimately be the guiding directive for the portraits. 
• Commissioning an artistic portrait is an investment.  The portraits that are created are meant to be timeless, unique, and emotive. The time and creativity that go into creating such portraits are extensive therefore such projects are not inexpensive or something to be taken lightly. 
• Commissioned portraits make a wonderful legacy piece that can be passed down for generations from family member to family member. Many years ago this was a very common practice and is evidenced by many portraits that are cherished by families of ancestors from decades past.
